UNICEF safe points in Cerkno
Libraries, pharmacies, flower shops, youth centers, and stores have long been known as places where children and young people can turn when they find themselves in distress. We are pleased to announce that the Cerkno Tourist Board is now joining this network of UNICEF safe points.
UNICEF safe points are designated for children and young people who need immediate protection, assistance, or simply advice. Here, they can find a safe place where they can physically withdraw from an uncomfortable situation, talk about their problems, or resolve doubts with the help of trained staff. Young people also have access to practical help, such as advice, phone chargers, a glass of water, or a band-aid. Ensured anonymity is particularly important.
Currently, there are more than 1,100 UNICEF safe points across Slovenia in as many as 120 locations, marked with a recognizable sticker featuring a smiling house, displayed prominently at the entrance. The complete map of safe points can be found on the website www.varnetocke.si.
In Cerkno, there are now four UNICEF safe points:
⭢ Generali Insurance, Bevkova Street 24
⭢ CŠOD Cerkno, Bevkova Street 22
⭢ Bevkova Library Cerkno, Platiševa Street 5
⭢ TIC Cerkno (Cerkno Tourist Board), Main Square 5
In the last school year, the safe points in Slovenia welcomed several hundred children who needed help due to minor difficulties, such as losing keys, needing assistance with homework, transportation home, or simply having a pleasant conversation. They also provided help to young people who found themselves in more serious situations, such as bullying, problems at home, fear of poor grades, or mental distress.
Children and young people, you are not alone! Friendly and trained people are waiting for you at UNICEF safe points who will help and advise you. Of course, we are also happy about good news and pleasant moments that we can share together.
