The summit where the view reaches as far as the eastern fringe of the Italian Dolomites
Ermanovec is a summit reaching 1,026 meters, making it the highest summit on the ridge that closes in the Poljane valley (Slov. Poljanska dolina) from the north-west end. It is located between Cerkno and Gorenja Vas, more precisely between Sovodenj and Trebija. Just a few steps away from the summit, which has a register box with a stamp; there is a nice scenic viewpoint, where a breathtaking view opens up with the entire Škofja Loka hills, parts of the Cerkno hills, Žirovski Vrh, and other summits in the area. The view reaches as far as the nearest summits with Mt. Porezen standing out among them along with the highest peaks of the Julian Alps. On a day with good visibility you can even see as far as the eastern edge of the Italian Dolomites.
Many hiking trails go to Ermanovec and the nearby mountain hut – from the village of Trebija you can get to Ermanovec in an hour and a half, the ascent from the village of Hotavlje via the hill Slajka will take almost three hours, and you will need about an hour for the hikes starting in the village of Sovodenj and the valley of Kopačnica. The simplest of all paths is the path from the Kladje pass, which mostly goes across a quite flat ridge.
