Cerkno Tourist Board

Cerkno Tourist Board (former LTO Cerkno) is a public institution in the field of tourism, established by the Municipality of Cerkno with the aim of promoting and encouraging the development of tourism and the creation of a comprehensive tourism offer in the municipality. The other tasks set out in the Decree establishing the institution are: Creation of a comprehensive tourist offer in the area of the Municipality of Cerkno; providing information to visitors to the tourist information centre; promotion of the tourist offer; co-creation of the tourism offer of Slovenia and its promotion; involvement of the activities of tourism associations with the status of associations operating in the public interest; organisation and implementation of tourism-related events; promotion of the development and improvement of tourism infrastructure facilities in the area of the Municipality of Cerkno. The activities of the institute are financed from the municipal budget, but it is also gaining more and more grant funding by applying for public tenders from the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, the Slovenian Tourist Organisation, and LAS projects. The institute employs three people; two project consultants and a Director who is responsible to the Council for the organisation’s activities.
