Guided tour of Laufarija of Cerkno
Visit the Laufarija of Cerkno Association and learn about one of the most recognisable carnival groups in Slovenia.
For centuries, the Laufarija of Cerkno has been performed according to unwritten rules, which are passed on from generation to generation following oral tradition. Today, the group counts 25 characters, and their most distinct feature is their wooden mask, or “larfe” (26 of them), carved from lime wood.
The tour of the premises of the Laufarija of Cerkno Association, where the story of Laufarija is rewritten every year, is given by one of the current members, who provides a genuine and unique experience.
