Cerkno–Planina pri Cerknem–Kladje–Bevkov vrh–Otalež–Plužnje–Straža–Cerkno
This circular route starts from Cerkno in the direction of Škofja Loka. After a challenging winding climb, which is also the most difficult part of the Marathon Franja trail, we arrive at Kladje, where we turn right towards Lajše. Go straight ahead, then take the asphalt path on the left, which leads through the forest to the homestead at Kacin, which was the main ski outpost for the locals before the Cerkno Ski Centre was built. Continue along a pleasant path past pastures and along a grassy hillside with a view of Cerkno, Škofje, Porezen, Kojca and part of the Lower Bohinj Mountains.
Cycle along the path past the junction for the Lajše sanctuary, keeping to the left on the asphalt road, which leads to a crossroads in the middle of meadows and pastures, where you turn right towards Bevkov vrh. Soon you reach a crossroads by a transformer station, where you take a sharp left again and follow the direction towards Bevkov vrh. Then descend along the asphalt path, which leads you out of the forest to a crossroads in the middle of the meadows, where you go straight to the “Na Ravan” Farm, where they are engaged in cheese-making. Continue past the farm and start climbing up the dirt road to Bevkov vrh, enjoying the beautiful views before the forest envelops us again. Then back on the asphalt road, you pass the “Na Hmenici” Farm and descend to the crossroads, where you turn right towards the village of Otalež.
After a descent of about 5 kilometres, you reach the Idrija–Tolmin regional road, where you turn right towards Tolmin. It is then a 1 kilometre drive to a crossroads with traffic lights, where you turn right towards Cerkno.
