Reka – Kurn’k – Saint Cantius’ Church – Reka (5.2 km; 1.15 hours)
A varied circular route leads you through the village of Reka, which lies along the Idrijca River on the Idrija – Tolmin regional road. You can admire the river from the beginning of the trail, when you cross over it on a wooden bridge in the immediate vicinity of the Kurn’k Guesthouse. Under the bridge there is a beach that attracts many bathers looking for refreshment in the summer months. You continue along a well-maintained forest path, following the signs and enjoying the unspoilt nature. Where the forest ends, you will encounter a small bridge crossing the Sevnica stream (the left tributary of the Idrijca River) in a forest clearing. After crossing the bridge, walk past a large apartment house and turn right.
Continue straight along the dirt road until you reach a crossroads where the tarmac road begins. Turn right and walk towards the main road, which is reached by an tarmac bridge over the Idrijca River. After carefully crossing the main road, the trail begins to climb towards the settlements of Bukovo and Zakojca. Go uphill for about 1 kilometre, then turn right along the narrow dirt path and then left just before the first house, towards the viewpoint (see photos). Continue along the forest path to the next house, just below the beautiful Saint Cantius’ Church. From the church, head down the meadow through the centre of Reka, and continue to the crossroads, where you head downhill (see the signs) towards the Tolmin – Idrija main road (end point).
